Where am I as a Disciple?

While Jesus is the perfect example, as disciples of Jesus we are called to be Living Examples who look like Jesus and who do what Jesus does.  We see examples in the Bible time and time again of a calling to imitate the life of Jesus as closely as we can.

1 John 2:6 tells us this about Jesus:

Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked

1 Peter 2:21 says:

For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.

So, here’s the important question – Where am I as a Disciple?  Do I consciously make decisions in my day-to-day life that make me a living example? What is the SHAPE of my life in comparison to the SHAPE of Jesus’s life?

When our lives reflect the life that Jesus lived, we shine his light to those around us. We have a calling to seek the light in every decision we make. Every temptation, every conversation, every choice.

1 John 1:5-7 says:

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
